Health Services Programs
The Wellness Fair is a collaborative effort that involves the participation of about 50 businesses and agencies from the San Antonio Community as well as numerous UIW departments. This program takes place in the Spring semester. The Wellness Fair provides active wellness promotion, health risk awareness, and disease prevention services for the college community. Free health screenings ranging from dental exams, vision tests, blood pressures and diabetes screenings to a special bodywork section that offers acupressure, therapeutic shoulder and neck massage, aromatherapy, and meditation training are offered. Opportunities for donating blood and getting a mammogram are also be available. Participants can sign up for nutrition and fitness assessments as well as other fitness activities including aerobics classes, yoga and walking.
A Health Risk/Wellness Game gives participants an opportunity to win prizes donated by the San Antonio business community. Demonstrations and entertainment will be provided including Tai Chi, self-defense, UIW's Red Alert Dance Team, Cardinal Cheerleaders, and Ballet Folklorico. The Wellness Fair is a collaborative program sponsored by Health Services and the Community Wellness Program.
