I am an Incoming Freshman/Transfer; How do I Apply for Housing?

  1. Confirm your UIW status by paying your matriculation fee.
  2. You will receive an email with your login credentials within 2-3 business days.
    • (Please contact the Admissions Office if you have not received your login credentials or if you have any questions regarding the confirmation process.)
  3. Pay $225 housing deposit.
    • Scholarships or financial aid does not cover this fee.
    • Log into Cardinal Apps
      • Click on “Cashnet.”
      • Click on “Make a Payment”
      • Add to shopping cart
      • Process payment
    • You will receive a confirmation email with your receipt.
    • Please allow 24 hours for the deposit to be credited on your account.
      • Please note our Deposit Return Schedule:
        • On or before May 31: 100% return
        • June 1 through June 30: 50% return
        • July 1 forward: 0% return
  4. Begin online application
    • Log into Cardinal Apps
      • Click on “StarRez: Student Housing Portal.”
      • Click on “Application”
      • Select the term you want to apply for
      • Begin Application
  5. Continue through all steps until you are stopped.
    • You will be stopped after selecting a meal plan.
    • You will be emailed a timeslot to select a room.
      • FRESHMEN
        • Fall Semester – You will select your room from December – June 15th
        • Spring Semester – Room placement is based on availability
      • TRANSFER
        • Fall Semester – You will select your room from April – June 15th
        • Spring Semester – Room placement is based on availability
  6. Submit your meningitis documentation to our Health Services Department

Please note that if you are applying after June 15th, you will be stopped after the meal plan page, and your status will state “in complete.” Our office will be manually assigning students’ room reservations according to the student’s room preference listed on the housing application and our availability at that time.

When is the Deadline to Apply for Housing?

  • We accept applications on a rolling basis, however please remember that all room assignments are made according to our availability at that time.

Deposit Acknowledgement “Error”

  • If you are receiving a deposit error message, first confirm that you have paid your deposit and have allowed 24 hours for it to process on your account.
  • If this is not the case, please ensure that you have checked off the deposit acknowledgement box at the end of the sentence discussing the deposit procedure.
