Information Resources Division Mission

The personnel of the Information Resources Division (IRD) are committed to providing information, library, and technology service and support to the UIW community - service that enables academic and operational excellence. We strive to identify, implement, and support technologies that enhance teaching and learning, information literacy, communication, collaboration, integration, and organizational effectiveness.

IRD Provides Support in a Number of Areas

Digital Infrastructure and User Support Services

Digital Infrastructure and User Support Services

Digital Infrastructure and User Support Services manages the wired and wireless network infrastructure, the network operations center, telecommunications, Office365 email, file storage and productivity suite of products, backup, disaster recovery, and information security. AV/Media and Helpdesk support, Tier I and Tier II technical support, and computer classroom support are also under this department.

Enterprise Applications

Enterprise Applications

Enterprise Applications provides end-user support for the Ellucian Banner enterprise system and all third-party integrated systems (i.e., Blackboard Transact, CashNet Storefronts, ActiveNet, StarRez, Magnus, Maxient, OrgSync, Cardinal Cars, BDM document imaging). In addition, this department supports the myWord Portal, assists with project management and Evisions Argos reporting.

Instructional Technology

Instructional Technology

Instructional Technology provides training for faculty as well as support for convergent media projects (e.g., digital media projects and editing). Instructional Technologists will work directly with faculty members to use technology in creative ways in the curriculum.

Mabee Library

Mabee Library Services

Mabee Library Services supports the university’s academic programs with materials, instruction and technology that advance the intellectual development and the scholarship activities of its students and faculty.

Web and Mobile Applications

Web and Mobile Operations

Web and Mobile Operations oversee the university’s public-facing web presence and social media efforts. The office aids university departments in building and maintaining web sites, assists in coordination of social media efforts with UIW constituencies, and coordinates web-based video and multimedia projects. This department also designs and maintains the MyWord portal and the university's mobile app, UIWApp available online at the Apple Store or Google Play.
