Grading Information Spring, Maymester, Summer 2020
Options for Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory Grading
Upon approval by the Provost and supported by the faculty and deans of the University of the Incarnate Word, options for satisfactory/unsatisfactory (S/U) grading have been approved for the Spring and Summer 2020 semesters.
Courses completed in the Spring mini I terms for all schools and parts of terms prior to the move to campus-wide online learning are excluded from grade change options. In addition, any in-progress IP grades from a previous term are ineligible for S/U grading.

***Important Note for Students on Opting into S/U Grading***
The decision to replace letter grades with an S or U is a serious decision that could result in unintended consequences. Students are encouraged to consult their academic advisors, as well as Financial Aid and any supplemental funding sources (i.e. VA, ROTC, employer funded scholarships), prior to opting into the S/U grading option. International students should also consult the ISSS Office, before opting into S/U grading.
Date Reminders - Spring/Maymester/Summer 2020 S/U Grading
- Students have 18 months from the Spring/Summer last full term date to opt into S/U grading, by request
- Once opting into S/U grading, students have the option to restore the letter grade, also within that 18 months
- Restoration of the letter grade from S/U is permissible one time ONLY (Example: Student earns C, requests letter grade change to S/U, then requests restoration of the letter grade one year later. Restoring the letter grade is the FINAL grade change permitted.)
- NO changes will be made to Spring/Maymester/Summer 2020 grades after the 18-month deadlines below
