University of the Incarnate Word SMS Terms and Conditions

Last Updated: June 24, 2026

The University of the Incarnate Word (“UIW”) uses text messaging to communicate with individuals who have agreed to receive messages based on their relationship with UIW.

Messaging Purpose and Consent

By providing your mobile number, you agree to receive automated recurring text messages from UIW across our campus systems. You may choose to opt in to one or all of the departmental categories or other additional UIW offices:

  • Campus Safety & Emergency Alerts: Critical weather, safety closures, and urgent notices.
  • Admissions, Business Office, Financial Aid or Military and Veterans Center: Application status, document requests, events, deadlines, billing, and aid awards.
  • Academic Advising & Registrar: Enrollment windows, class cancellations, and degree tracking.
  • Student Life & Housing: Campus events, residential move-in/out, and campus dining.
  • Alumni & Institutional Advancement: UIW news, networking, and giving campaigns.
  • UIW Offices: University departments providing information or notification on educational or university-related events and announcements.

Carrier Compliance, Delivery, and Liability

This SMS program operates in full compliance with Application-to-Person 10-Digit Long Code (A2P 10DLC) regulations.

  • Carrier Liability: Mobile carriers (including, but not limited to, AT&T, T-Mobile, Metro PCS, Cricket and Verizon Wireless) are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • No Guarantee: Text message delivery is subject to effective transmission from your network provider. UIW is not responsible or liable for network carrier transmission or text message delivery issues.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies depending on your relationship with UIW and your communication preferences. Emergency alert frequencies depend strictly on active campus situations.

Fees and Costs

UIW does not charge a fee for this messaging service. However, standard message and data rates may apply from your mobile provider according to your wireless plan.

Opt-Out Instructions

You have a right to control your messaging preferences.
To stop receiving texts from a specific campus system or shortcode, text STOP, STOPALL, QUIT, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or END in reply to any message.

  • Upon texting STOP, you will receive one final automated text confirming your unsubscription.
  • Note: Because campus messaging utilizes unique A2P 10DLC phone lines per department, opting out of one department (e.g., Student Life) will not automatically opt you out of others (e.g., Emergency Alerts).

To opt back in, text START to the phone number from which you received the last UIW text message(s).

Help and Support

For technical assistance, command assistance, or formatting questions, text HELP to any text message you receive from UIW. You can also contact the UIW support desk:
