About IT

Information Technology Mission

The personnel of Information Technology are committed to providing technology service and support to the UIW community - service that enables academic and operational excellence. We strive to identify, implement, and support technologies that enhance teaching and learning, information literacy, communication, collaboration, integration, and organizational effectiveness.

IT Provides Support in a Number of Areas

Digital Infrastructure and User Support Services

Infrastructure, Operations, and Security

Digital Infrastructure, Operations, and Security manages the wired and wireless network infrastructure, the network operations center, telecommunications, Office365 email, file storage and productivity suite of products, backup, disaster recovery, and information security. Helpdesk support, Tier I and Tier II technical support, and computer classroom support are also under this department.

Enterprise Applications

Enterprise Applications

Enterprise Applications provides end-user support for the Ellucian Banner enterprise system and all third-party integrated systems (i.e., Blackboard Transact, CashNet Storefronts, ActiveNet, StarRez, Magnus, Maxient, UIW Engage, Cardinal Cars, BDM document imaging). In addition, this department assists with project management and Evisions Argos reporting.

Strategic Initiatives and Process Improvement

The Office of Strategic Initiatives and Process Improvement (SIPI) advances the University's mission by managing and enabling the continuous digital transformation across UIW. In alignment with the University's values and strategic priorities, the SIPI team will deliver exceptional customer service to facilitate successful implementation and improvement activities to support the modernization of the UIW user experience

Instructional Technology

The Office of Teaching, Learning and Technology

The Office of Teaching, Learning and Technology provides training for faculty as well as support for convergent media projects (e.g., digital media projects and editing). Instructional Technologists will work directly with faculty members to use technology in creative ways in the curriculum. The instructional technology team also includes our audiovisual (AV) specialists who support our many audio and video systems.

Web and Mobile Applications

Web and Mobile Operations

Web and Mobile Operations oversee the university’s public-facing web presence and social media efforts. The office aids university departments in building and maintaining web sites, assists in coordination of social media efforts with UIW constituencies, and coordinates web-based video and multimedia projects. This department also designs and maintains the Cardinal Apps portal and the university's mobile app, UIWApp available online at the Apple Store or Google Play.
