Our Lady's Chapel Services
- Please note that there will be no noon Mass, Liturgy of the Hours or Sacrament of Reconciliation while the university is closed for Christmas break.
- Services will resume Monday, Jan. 5, 2015.
- Sunday Mass will still be held at 10:30 a.m., in Our Lady's Chapel.
Christmas Eve Mass
University Mission & Ministry invites the community to the annual Christmas Eve Mass, Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014 in Our Lady's Chapel. Prelude music will begin at 5 p.m. with Mass beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Midnight Mass at the Chapel of the Incarnate Word

UIW wins 2014 National Night Out Competition: 2nd Place City Wide / Top Overall Award
The results are in from the 2014 National Night Out Competition. UIW took first place in the college/university category and placed second in the city behind Ft. Sam Houston for the Top Overall Award. The competition was organized by the City of San Antonio Police Department. This was the first year UIW participated in this event. Campus Life thanks everyone for their creative ideas, collaborative spirit and good old fashioned help with the event. Go Cards!
Extended Academic Programs
Military Advanced Education (MAE) has awarded the University of the Incarnate Word the designation of a Top School in its 2015 MAE Guide to Colleges & Universities, measuring best practices in military and veteran education. The Guide was released in the December issue of MAE, and is available online at www.mae-kmi.com.

Construction Notice
- The gate located at the Hildebrand entrance is scheduled to be closed for asphalt repair from Monday, Dec. 22 through Wednesday, Dec. 24.
- The newly constructed pedestrian bridge located near Joeris and the grounds building is scheduled to be closed for concrete repair from Monday, Dec. 29 through Friday, Jan. 2, 2015

Construction Area Danger
The UIW community is asked to observe posted warning signs surrounding the Fine Arts construction site. There have been instances of people walking through the gated barricades. Please note, there are dangerous working conditions and heavy equipment being used, therefore only authorized personnel should be present within the fenced area. Thank you for your cooperation.
Information Resources Division / December monthly maintenance
Information Resources Division will be conducting December monthly maintenance beginning today, Friday, Dec. 19 from 5:30 p.m. through Sunday, Dec. 21 at noon. Please note update to ESTUDIAS & DASH.
The following production change items will be included in the maintenance window:

ESTUDIAS update:
The regularly scheduled Saturday update will not occur this week. The next regularly scheduled update will occur on Monday night, December 22nd. Estudias is expected to remain operational during the IRD Maintenance period.
DASH update:
The daily and weekly report updates scheduled between Friday close of business and Sunday noon will be rescheduled for Sunday evening. To avoid additional outages, the regularly scheduled maintenance of DASH services will be completed Saturday morning at 6 a.m. This restart should take approximately 15 minutes to complete, during which time the DASH portal will not be available. Other than these modifications, DASH is expected to remain operational during the IRD Maintenance period.
Please check your operational calendars and make necessary adjustments to ensure your business operations are not interrupted by the outage.

Christmas Eve Mass / Sometimes Singers & Players Choir
Join UIW's Sometime Singers & Players, a group made up of faculty, staff, administrators and students (vocalists and instrumentalists) who cannot participate in weekly rehearsals and services, but who serve when possible at liturgical prayer throughout the school year. The last rehearsal time is Tuesday, Dec. 23 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Our Lady's Chapel.

Women's Global Connection's Holiday Alternative Giving Program:
WGC's holiday alternative giving program provides several options to honor girls and women worldwide. We are SO very grateful for UIW faculty and staff support of this program over the years.
The 2014 options are:
- $25 to train a preschool teacher in Peru
- $30 to support a preschool child for 4 months in Africa
- $35 to purchase a dozen hens for a woman's family business in Africa
- $50 to purchase a pig or goat for a woman's family business in Africa
- $200 to fund a woman's business for a year in Peru or Africa with you as her Global Business Partner
- $1,500 for women in Tanzania to build 1 rainwater harvester (or designate a lesser amount toward a rainwater harvester)
- $ ____ to provide scholarships through the Dorothy Ettling-Neomi Hayes Immersion Trip Fund for those in need of travel expense support for WGC immersion trips in developing countries.
