Attention Community Membership and Community Groups that access the UIW Sports and Wellness Facilities,
Due to the increased infection rate of the COVID Delta variant, the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) will postpone reopening UIW facilities and resources to the community until October 1, 2021. This includes the Richard and Janet Cervera Wellness Center, Ann Barshop Natatorium, and Henrich Center for Fencing and International Sports.
Although UIW embraces the opportunity to share our resources and services, right now our primary goal must be to focus on providing a safe and enriching environment for all of our community. Limiting occupancy has proven to limit exposure. UIW will continue to monitor all aspects of the COVID 19 status and address the situation in regard to the health and safety of our community. Information will be updated and posted through the UIW Website.
Schedules, policies, and procedures for accessing community membership exercise and swim sessions will be updated prior to the reopening of all Sports and Wellness facilities.
All memberships have been extended to reflect the new reopening date. Individuals with prior memberships will be notified of reopening plans via the email associated with their existing accounts. Additional information will be posted online on this page and at the Ann Barshop Natatorium website.
Memberships for all facilities are on hold at this time. For questions or concerns, please contact us via email at email@example.com or by phone at (210) 805-5873.

Health and Safety are paramount to the University of the Incarnate Word and the Sports and Wellness department. Taking steps to minimize the risk of COVID-19 infections (or any other spread of disease) at UIW and in our community is a shared responsibility and a critical part of caring for all who live, work and learn with us.
It is the responsibility of all to review the UIW's latest COVID-19 information.
In order to protect the UIW Community, the Sports and Wellness department will be utilizing a 3-tier disinfecting system for all of its facilities.
Patron responsibility: Before and after each use of exercise equipment, patrons will wipe down the equipment with provided disinfecting supplies. This is an unchanged procedure from the previous years is a critical responsibility in disease control.
Sports and Wellness responsibilities: The Wellness Center will close after the conclusion of each session; staff will perform disinfecting measures utilizing a handheld misting system to ensure adequate coverage.
Sports and Wellness responsibilities: At the conclusion of the final available work out session staff will perform deep disinfecting procedures utilizing a disinfecting fogging system, designed for maximum penetration and disinfection.
It takes a communal effort to maintain the health and safety of the Richard and Janet Cervera Wellness Center, please ensure that you are doing your part to protect your fellow Cardinal.
