The 38th Annual Swing-In Auction Party & Golf Tournament
The 38th Annual Swing-In Auction Party "Throwback to the 80s" is set for Thursday, April 30 in the McCombs Center Sky Room. The golf tournament will take place on Friday, May 1 at The Republic Golf Course. Proceeds benefit UIW student scholarships. 2015 Corporate Cup
UIW will host the citywide San Antonio Sports Corporate Cup on Saturday, May 30 from 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the UIW Athletic Complex. Companies from all over San Antonio will compete in field day type activities for points and prizes. UIW is in the large company category against groups such as H-E-B, USAA, Rackspace and more. This year there is an online registration form to be a part of TEAM UIW. Visit http://uiw.edu/teamuiw/ to select which activities you would be interested in participating or sign-up to volunteer during tailgate. You will be notified which activities you will be competing in closer to the event by the Team UIW Corporate Cup Committee, as there are limited spots for each. Each UIW employee who participates will receive a free t-shirt! Families are encouraged to attend and support but are not eligible to participate EXCEPT for a 2k Healthy Walk. As part of this competition, UIW can earn points for collecting items for the charity challenge. TEAM UIW has selected to focus on donations for Haven for Hope. Haven for Hope is collecting the following new items ONLY in all sizes: packages of socks, packages of underwear, cotton sports or regular bras and packages of white cotton t-shirts. The Big Give S.A.

The Diviners
The UIW Department of Theatre Arts invites you to The Diviners, a marvelously theatrical and heartfelt play. The action is set during the depression era in rural Indiana, and it centers on the relationship between a sensitive, strangely gifted young man and a disenchanted ex-preacher. Their friendship proves an instrument of mutual spiritual healing. But when the townsfolk pressure the former preacher to resume his religious calling in a more defined and limited way, a catastrophic collision of emotions ensues and leads to a shocking conclusion.

Earth Day Events
In honor of Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, UIW is hosting events to commemorate the occasion. The events include:

  • Earth Day Fair in Marian Circle
    The UIW Earth Day Committee is hosting an Earth Day Fair from 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. in Marian Circle. The fair will feature booths to include, meditation & yoga demonstration, Europe & sustainability booth, Sustain Student Organization, information about compost & rainwater harvesting, UIW Community Garden and Solar House and more. It will also feature a BYOB (Bring your own Bottle) Tasting Event offering different teas, elixirs and flavored beverages from around the globe. Feik School of Pharmacy Competitive Intramural Scientific Research Awards
Applications are now being accepted for the 2015-16 Feik School of Pharmacy (FSOP) Competitive Intramural Scientific Research Awards competition. The purpose of the FSOP Research Awards competition is to encourage the individual and collaborative scientific/biomedical research efforts of UIW faculty. This award is intended to assist researchers in producing pilot data, which will enable the investigator(s) to submit for external funding competitions sponsored by the National Institute of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), or private foundations. The award is made for the fall and spring semesters. All applications must be submitted electronically to Rebecca Ohnemus in the Office of Research Development (ORD) by Monday, April 20. Tapped Film Viewing
Join the Biology, International Affairs and Library departments on Monday, April 20 from 3 - 5 p.m. in the Mabee Library Auditorium for a special film viewing. UIW Physician Assistant Program Information Session
The UIW Physician Assistant (PA) Program will host an information session on Monday, April 20 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the ICC Auditorium. This session is designed to provide information about the PA profession, admissions requirements, class selections, the didactic curriculum, and expectations for the clinical year. A question and answer session will be included after the planned presentation. The information session is informal and does not require you to RSVP. The Feik School of Pharmacy APhA-ASP (American Pharmacists Association) is conducting its 1st annual White Coat 5K run on Saturday, April 25 from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. at UIW. This event is open to the public. Those in the healthcare field are encouraged to participate while wearing their white lab coat. Pre-registration is $25. FAFSA Workshop for Parents
This is a workshop for all employees who have questions about filing for FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for their college-bound children. Heather Miller will lead the workshop on Thursday, April 23 from 12 - 1 p.m. in the Mabee Library, Room 230. She will explain the guidelines, show resources and answer any particular questions you might have as you fill out documents. You are welcome to bring your W-2 and complete the application during this workshop, or just come and find out what is involved in the process to secure scholarships for college.     This is your opportunity to take your course from a repository for your syllabus and PowerPoint presentations to an integrated, interactive, and engaging course. This two-week seminar will include instruction in: pedagogy, course organization and design, assessment, assignments, the grade center and other beneficial topics. Upon successful completion of the course, UIW faculty will receive a $500.00 technology stipend. Stipends are only available for full time UIW faculty. The Department of Government and International Affairs is hosting a presentation by Floyd Cable, diplomat in residence at the University of Texas at Austin. Guests will learn about opportunities for internships at the Department of State and Embassies abroad as well as "virtual" foreign service internships for those who cannot travel.
