How Jesus does this is through charisms, which are special gifts. These gifts emerge among people not only in the Church but also in the world. Charisms are found wherever there are human needs and that these unique gifts are given for the common good. For more info, contact Brenda Dimas (210) 829-3128 or dimas@uiwtx.edu.

Your Cup of Coffee Can Help Farmers Escape Poverty
Join the UIW Liturgical Outreach and community from 3 - 4:15 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8 in the Administration Building, Room 246. Dr. Scott Dittloff will explain how most small-scale family farmers live in remote locations and lack access to credit, so they are vulnerable to middlemen who offer cash for their coffee at a fraction of its value. Fair Trade guarantees farmers a minimum price, and links farmers directly with importers, creating long-term sustainability. Through Fair Trade, farmers earn better incomes, allowing them to hold on to their land and invest in quality. This presentation will focus on what fair trade is and how it works, using coffee as an example. If you are concerned about the effect your consumption habits have on the world, come listen and join in on a conversation about how you can have your coffee and drink it too. For more info, contact Dr. Scott Dittloff at (210) 829-2713 or dittloff@uiwtx.edu.
