Incarnate Word Day Mass
Incarnate Word Day celebrates the Feast of the Annunciation, Mary's "Yes" to God's call. At the Annunciation, an angel sent by God brought the message to Mary that God was asking her to be the Mother of Jesus, the Son of God. When Mary accepted God's offer, the Word (God) became one of us. God became "incarnate," with a body like ours; hence the name Incarnate Word. Because of His resurrection, the Incarnate Word continues to dwell among us. Incarnate Word Day Mass will be held at 12 p.m., Monday, April 4 in Our Lady's Chapel. For more info, contact Brenda Dimas at (210) 829-3128 or dimas@uiwtx.edu.

Work-Shopping Student Papers: Tales of Success
When students workshop peers' papers, the process can be a bit like the little girl in the nursery rhyme: when it's good it's very, very good, but when it's bad it's horrid. When peer work-shopping works well, students get guidance in producing better writing, and they also develop their own skills in critically reading a text in progress. Participants will learn the typical elements of a workshopping session, ways that it might be used in different disciplines, and strategies for avoiding some of the pitfalls. The first 10 participants to sign up for each session will receive a $100 stipend. Only fulltime faculty members who teach at least one undergraduate course are eligible for a stipend. There are two sessions in the Administration Building, Room 212, from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, and Wednesday, April 6. Both sessions will have wine and cheese. Dr. Amanda Johnston of the Writing and Learning Center will host these sessions. To sign up go to the following link or contact Kathy Allwein at kallwein@uiwtx.edu or (210) 283-6359.
