UIW is hosting a symposium from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, in the Ingrid Seddon Recital Hall related to this year's Hispanic vote produced by the San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists in coordination with the Society for Professional Journalists. Bomba Latina Festival
The Institute of World Cultures is hosting Bomba Latina Festival from 4:30 – 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 12, in the McCombs Center Rosenberg Sky Room. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, this event introduces the community to Latin dance and music. Mindfulness Groups
The Office of Counseling Services is offering a free mindfulness group from 12 – 12:45 p.m., each Friday through Oct. 28, in the Administration Building, Room 422. Attendees will learn about the benefits of mindfulness, and each week a new technique will be practiced. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to participate and experience what it is like to be aware of the present moment. Alpha Lounge Tuesdays
Alpha: First Generation Student Success would like to open the doors of Alpha Lounge again between 1 – 4 p.m. every Tuesday to students who would like to meet with their Alpha faculty or peer mentor, have questions or just do some work and hang out. The Harp and Shamrock Society of Texas Presents 1916: The Irish Rebellion at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Grossman International Conference Center. This documentary depicts the events surrounding the 1916 Easter rising in Dublin, Ireland. This event eventually led to Irish independence in 1918. The film is narrated by Liam Neeson.
