The Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word Heritage Center: A Life for God and a Heart for Others
The Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word Heritage Center is hosting an ongoing exhibit open to the public titled A Life for God and a Heart for Others from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Heritage Center is located adjacent to the Chapel of the Incarnate Word. The exhibit tells the story of the Congregation and its ministries, of which the University is one, through the stories of the Sisters and their collaborators. Heritage Day Ritual
The Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word invites you to the Heritage Day Ritual at the CCVI Cemetery at 8 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 5, to honor and remember the Sisters of Charity of Incarnate Word, as well as priests, faculty, staff, board members and all that were associated with UIW who have passed away. The Rosenberg School of Optometry (RSO) Fall 2016 art exhibit Improvisations opened Friday, Sept. 23. Pictured above are Steven G. Mindfulness Groups
The Office of Counseling Services is offering a free mindfulness group from 12 – 12:45 p.m., each Friday through Oct. 28, in the Administration Building, Room 422. Attendees will learn about the benefits of mindfulness, and each week a new technique will be practiced. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to participate and experience what it is like to be aware of the present moment. Alpha Lounge Tuesdays

Fall DASH Training Sessions
The Office of Institutional Research has several DASH training opportunities this Fall 2016 semester in the Mabee Library, Room 230. Community News
Services for Dr. Robert Connelly
The University community will gather to celebrate the life of Dr. Robert Connelly at 11 a.m., Sat., Oct. 1. A funeral mass will be held at the Chapel of the Incarnate Word (Motherhouse), followed by a reception at the Music Building on the UIW campus. Faculty and academic administrators are invited to wear academic regalia if they wish to be included in the academic procession accompanying the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UIW Ecological Sustainability Fund. This fund is for faculty led projects involving students.
The community was invited to a symposium presented by the San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists Saturday, Sept. 24, in Ingrid Seddon Recital Hall in regards to this year's Hispanic vote in the presidential election. A Meditation in The Headwaters Sanctuary

This is a guided meditation along the Great Oak Trail providing an opportunity to experience the woodland as a wellspring of wonder and awe and delight. The walk is limited to 14. Anyone fascinated by the sounds of birds is welcome. This is a great opportunity for beginning or intermediate birders to develop and improve their identification skills.
