Informal Conversation Series with Catholic University Presidents
Acting UIW President, Dr. Denise Doyle invites you to the first in a series of informal conversations with presidents of Catholic universities. They will share their insights and take questions from our community on the role of a president of a Catholic university. The first speaker is Dr. Donna M. Carroll, president of Dominican University, located in the Chicago suburb of River Forest. The presentation will be from 11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m., today, Friday, Nov. 18, in Seddon Recital Hall located in the Bennack Music Center. UIW Theatre presents Rosmersholm
The UIW Theatre Department invites you to Rosmersholm 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 18, in the Coates Theatre, a struggle between past and future, tradition and progress, responsibility and freedom. The Ettling Center for Civic Leadership in collaboration with Student Government Association, Student Engagement and the Human Performance & Sports Management Organization are hosting the First Annual Golden Harvest 5K Run/Walk at 8 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 20, at UIW. 2016 justin udomah dissertation defense

In preparation for Light the Way there will be no parking in the following locations throughout campus through 12 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 20:

  • lot in front of the Barshop Natatorium
  • lots surrounding the tennis courts
  • first floor of the Agnese Sosa garage
  • lots around the McDermott Convocation Center and Benson Stadium
  • McDermott Convocation Center and Benson Stadium will be closed for use during this time
  • Barshop Natatorium will be closed on Saturday, Nov. 19

TRiO Student Support Services – Cup Runneth Over
TRiO Student Support Services is hosting its annual collection drive through Thursday, Nov. 30. They are collecting travel-size personal care items for those experiencing homelessness in San Antonio. Items are made into care packages and delivered to SAMMinistries. Donate the following items to designated boxes around campus or to the Administration Building, Room 225, or schedule a pick-up at your location:

  • Coffee cups in good condition
  • Travel/hotel toiletries
  • Oral care products (toothbrushes, floss, travel toothpaste, etc.)
  • Individually wrapped tea bags or packets of hot chocolate
  • Any other small item that would be appropriate and helpful

Native American Heritage Month Exhibit

UIW was a proud sponsor of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Spirit of America dinner Thursday, Nov. 10, for a salute to our veterans. Col. Dick Cole of Doolittle's Raiders and Maj. Gen. (ret) Patrick Brady, medal of honor recipient were honored.  At the UIW table were Lt. Col. Angel of Hope Candlelight Vigil Cancelled
This year's Angel of Hope Candlelight Vigil originally scheduled for at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6, has been cancelled. The expansion and construction of the area around the Lourdes Grotto, lack of electricity and no handicap accessibility made it difficult to host this year's event. America's Lost Landscape: The Tallgrass Prairie Film Screening
The Headwaters at Incarnate Word hosts a screening of America's Lost Landscape: The Tallgrass Prairie from 3:30 – 5 p.m., Monday, Dec. 5, in the CHRISTUS Heritage Hall at the Village at Incarnate Word. The film highlights prairie preservation efforts and explores how this ecosystem may serve as a future model for a sustainable agriculture. Women's Global Connection continues to offer its Alternative Giving Program this holiday season through Dec. 25.
