2017 ibc bank check presentation to uiw school of osteopathic medicine

 

On Wednesday, Jan. 4, the International Bank of Commerce (IBC) Foundation donated $250,000 to UIW's School of Osteopathic Medicine (SOM). The money will support the development of the residency program in Laredo, Texas as well as a clinical skills lab for first and second year medical students. 2017 feast of the epiphany final light the way night

Today is the Feast of the Epiphany. Campus will be open for self-guided tours tonight one last time to enjoy the Christmas lights.

Spring 2017 New Graduate Student and Family Orientation
The Graduate Support Center is hosting an orientation from 7:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 14, in the Nursing Building foyer. This orientation program is designed to help prepare graduate students. It is encouraged to bring a family member and friends to this event. Biometric Screenings
Free biometric screenings will be available from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Jan. 26, in the Nursing Building, Room 222. The screening will consist of a non-fasting test, which will provide blood cholesterol and glucose levels, and screening of height, weight, BMI and blood pressure. The UIW Department of Art is hosting an opening reception for Roger Colombik: Installation View of More Life in a Time Without Boundaries. The reception is from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27, in the Kelso Art Center. Roger Colombik's exhibition will be on display in the Semmes Gallery of the Kelso Art Center from Jan. 27 – Feb. 23. Presidential Search Begins
Dr. Denise Doyle would like to announce that the presidential search process has started. Full consideration will be given to applications received by March 10, 2017. Mass Notification System Test
UIW's Office of Environmental Health, Safety & Risk Management will conduct an indoor test of the mass notification system between 9 – 11 a.m., today, Friday, Jan. 6, on UIW's main campus and the School of Osteopathic Medicine campus. Individuals in and around those buildings that have been interfaced with the outdoor mass notification system will hear the following test message: “Attention, attention, this is a test of the UIW Emergency Notification System. This is only a test.”  Regular system tests are necessary to ensure full operability of campus warning systems. The tests will last approximately 35 seconds, and NO evacuations will be necessary. Bereavement Notice for Janie Rios
Janie Rios, secretary for the University Advising Center, is mourning the loss of her mother, Elva Silvia Alejandro Hernandez. Funeral services will take place today, Friday, Jan. 6, in Evans, Colorado. Please keep Janie and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses.

2017 Fiesta® Medals Available
Three UIW Fiesta® medals will be available to add to your collection this year. Pictured above (left to right) are the Cardinals Club Fiesta® Medal, the 2017 Cutting Edge Fiesta® Fashion Show Medal, and the first official UIW Fiesta® Medal. The UIW Cardinals Club is releasing its first Fiesta® medal at the basketball double-header, Saturday, Jan. 7, in the McDermott Convocation Center for $10.  The first official UIW Fiesta® Medal is available for $8 in the Administration Building, Room 55. The 2017 Cutting Edge Fiesta® Fashion Show Medal is also available for $8. They are available in the Juren Sullivan Center for Fashion Management on the second floor of the Joyce Building.
