Unsung Hero

2017 june unsung hero carmen rivera

Meet UIW Lead Purchasing Agent Carmen Rivera. Carmen was born and raised here in San Antonio and is a graduate of Fox Tech High School. She has been working at UIW for 14 years. Her favorite thing about working here is her coworkers. She and her department have worked together for a long time, and she loves the family atmosphere UIW provides. Carmen thanks the UIW community for its longtime support during both her husband's three deployments and her own two cancer diagnoses. Carmen has been cancer free for 11 years.

In her spare time, Carmen spends time doing a variety of activities with her 10-year-old daughter. They recently just completed a 5K together. Overall, Carmen loves her job and the atmosphere UIW provides.

If you see Carmen on campus, be sure to stop and say hello and thank her for all she does for UIW.

If you have a suggestion for a UIW Unsung Hero, email pr@uiwtx.edu.
