Creating Balance

Sr. Charles Marie Frank Distinguished Lecture and Poster Session
The Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing & Health Professions will host its Sr. Charles Marie Frank Distinguished Lecture at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26, in the McCombs Center Rosenberg Sky Room. Dr. Ann Kurth, dean and Linda Koch Lorimer professor of nursing at Yale University, is giving the lecture Planetary Health: Nursing's Challenge in Preserving Human Health. Reflection on the Murder of Sr. Patricia Ann Kelley: Standing Against the Death Penalty
On the 30th anniversary of the murder of Sr. Patricia Ann Kelley, CCVI, the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate invite you to participate in a reflection at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 27, in the Chapel of the Incarnate Word. Help East Texas Recover from Hurricane Harvey
This UIW History Department is taking donations through Friday, Sept. 22, to help those in the Corpus Christi and Victoria areas of Texas.

Fall 2017 DASH Training Sessions
The Office of Institutional Research has several DASH training opportunities this Fall 2017 semester in the Mabee Library, Room 230. These sessions are open to individuals who are interested in accessing DASH but haven't had DASH training. Even if you had DASH training in the past, these sessions will be helpful if you need a refresher on the basics. We will cover navigation, the functionalities of the system, as well as show you a report or two as examples of the kinds of information found in DASH.

2017 meet the mission

University Mission & Ministry organized and sponsored the 2017 Meet the Mission Friday, Sept. 15. UIW students and employees lent a hand serving the underserved areas in our community. UIW President Dr. Tom Evans stopped by the McDermott Center Friday morning to greet the students before they went out into the community. UIW hosted its annual Light the Way Volunteer Day, Saturday, Sept. 16, in the McDermott Center. Students and members of the UIW community came out to replace bulbs in the lights that are being strung in trees throughout campus. 2017 memorial

Damontre N. Pamilton Memorial
UIW alumnus and former UIW employee Damontre N. Pamilton passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 13. A celebration of life memorial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, outside the Ann Barshop Natatorium. This will be an outdoor event, so please dress accordingly. Business casual attire is recommended. At the family's request, this will be the only service held in Damontre's honor.

Phones - Transition to 10 Digit Dialing
Effective Saturday, Sept. 23, all outgoing 210 area code calls must include all 10 digits. This is a result of the newly implemented 726 area code for the San Antonio region. UIW users calling external numbers will have to dial 9 - 210 - XXX - XXXX. All internal UIW calls can still use the four-digit extension. Also of note, no existing numbers should change and '726' area code numbers will not be issued until the end of October. Interpretation Skills Presentation
The Headwaters at Incarnate Word is hosting this program from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., Friday, Sept. 22. Learn the basics of interpretation principles and best practices. Healing the Headwaters
The Headwaters at Incarnate Word is hosting a sanctuary clean-up at 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 29. The Headwaters at Incarnate Word relies on volunteers for land stewardship tasks. Women's Global Connection (WGC) invites you to support their 2017 Women in the Changing World of Work Gala as they celebrate WGC's 16 years of empowering women and girls locally and globally.
