Special message from UIW President Thomas M. Evans

Dear Colleagues,

The Cardinal Feast was a wonderful experience. Our family was delighted to join so many of you as we served our students together. Over 120 employees volunteered their time to take part in this great event, which is a true testament to our community's commitment to our Mission.

The international menu was well received, and it was a joy to see 1,141 members of our diverse student body experiencing cuisine from around the world and celebrating. The family-style meal encouraged conversation among the students and volunteers and it was nice to see the smiling faces accompanying lively conversations. Our entire family enjoyed the opportunity to talk with students. Walter and Leland, especially, had fun preparing crepes in the ballroom.

We are grateful to the 40 faculty and staff members who cheerfully joined Lisa on Monday afternoon to roll 1,200 sets of silverware in a record 30 minutes in preparation for the dinner. A very special thank you to all who organized and prepared for the dinner and served our students, especially Cindy Adair and the Sodexo team and Paul Ayala and his team, for their work in the preparation and coordination of this festive event.

We hope that you all enjoyed the experience as much as we did. It is a joy to see our community come together as "One Word" on such occasions.

Praised be the Incarnate Word,

Tom, Lisa, Walter and Leland Evans
