New Student Programs

The Office of New Student Programs is dedicated to promoting the success of new students by enhancing student engagement on campus. We are available to assist students in locating UIW resources that will lead to their academic success. New students learn to understand “you own your education,” which introduces self-responsibility and an awareness of the path to success!

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Take time to relax in between classes and meet with your New Student Peer Mentor! We have snacks, a microwave, coffee, board games and even a little library! 

Cardinal Prep Day - Friday, August 23

Cardinal Prep Day is an opportunity to get ready for your Cardinal experience. New students will meet other Cardinals, engage in the community, tour class buildings, and explore parking options. Don't miss out!

• Submit Meningitis Record
  • You may submit your vaccination record in PDF format to registrar@uiwtx.edu. Be sure to include PIDM or date of birth. 
• Apply for On-Campus Housing (Optional)

  • Obtain your Cardinal ID at Orientation
• ALEKS PPL Mathematics Placement Test
  • Students who meet the following criteria do not need to take the ALEKS:
    • 550 SAT Math minimum or 22 ACT Math minimum
    • 350 minimum on TSI Math
    • "C" or higher in dual credit Math course
  • Students can complete the UIW Mathematics Placement through:

• Register for Courses
  • Submit the Advising and Scheduling Questionnaire
