Tyler Simmons is a proud Cardinal and San Antonio native pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Neuroscience. Now in his junior year, Tyler serves as the President of the University of the Incarnate Word Student Government Association (SGA), where he leads with a vision to take UIW to new heights by reimagining what it means to serve, represent, and empower the student body.
As a pre-medical student and LSAMP Scholar, Tyler is deeply committed to academic excellence, research, and equity in STEM. His journey at UIW has been marked by leadership and service, including his previous role as President of Future Healthcare Heroes—an organization that prepares future healthcare professionals through service, education, and outreach. He also represents students on the UIW Board of Trustees as an ex-officio member, advocating for student needs at the highest level of university governance.
Under his leadership, SGA is focused on elevating student voices, expanding support for student-led initiatives, and creating more opportunities for leadership development across campus. Tyler is working to strengthen connections between students and university leadership, improve transparency in funding processes, and ensure that student organizations have the resources they need to thrive.
Inspired by UIW’s mission of faith, service, and innovation, Tyler believes in cultivating a campus culture where every student feels heard, supported, and empowered to lead. His goal is to ensure that every student succeeds not by chance, but because opportunities were opened, voices were uplifted, and leadership was made accessible to all.

Alexandra Monsserat Elizondo is a proud Cardinal and McAllen Texas native pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with a Pre-Law focus at the University of the Incarnate Word. Now in her second year, Alexandra serves as the Vice President of the Student Government Association (SGA), where she leads with a vision rooted in advocacy, representation, and student empowerment.
A dedicated scholar and campus leader, driven by a passion for service and leadership, Alexandra has dedicated her college years to uplifting others and building a stronger campus community. Alexandra’s academic and extracurricular efforts are deeply rooted in her belief in fairness, advocacy, and inclusion. From her earlier role as SGA Secretary to her work with Team Red, she has helped organize inclusive campus events, support student organizations, and amplify student voices in meaningful ways. She also plays an active role in shaping campus culture and policy by collaborating with university departments, student leaders, and faculty.
Motivated by UIW’s mission of faith, service, and innovation, Alexandra is committed to cultivating a campus where leadership is inclusive, support is widespread, and every student feels equipped to thrive. With aspirations to pursue law and serve her community, she is determined to be a voice for students and a force for positive change.

Theresa Servin, a true-hearted and devoted resident of San Antonio, Texas, is currently pursuing an Accelerated Bachelor to Master of Arts in Communication Arts with a concentration in Strategic and Corporate Communications. Passionate about building meaningful connections and shaping impactful messages, she currently serves as the Director of Public Relations, where she leads communication efforts and strengthens organized visibility. Her academic and professional experiences reflect her commitment to excellence, leadership, and purposeful storytelling.
Theresa chose to attend the University of the Incarnate Word because of its strong commitment to community and academic excellence. The university’s Accelerated Communication Arts program aligned perfectly with her career goals, and its supportive environment has allowed her to grow both personally and professionally.
Theresa aspires to serve in Public Relations for the City of San Antonio, using her skills to inform, inspire, and strengthen the bond between the city and its residents. She believes that PR builds trust, and that the most effective PR not only shapes perception, but also shapes possibility.

Jaine Coronado is a 3rd year student from Eagle Pass, Texas pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of the Incarnate Word. As Secretary of the Student Government Association Executive Cabinet, she brings dedication, organization, and heart to UIW’s student leadership team.
Jaine has demonstrated her passion for service, mentorship, and advocacy through her continuous involvement at UIW. She previously served as President of the UIW Pre-Nursing Society, where she organized service projects and established mentorship connections to foster academic support and student growth. Additionally, she has extended her leadership capabilities across campus through her roles as a Peer Mentor for the FLIGHT Program, Senator for the Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing, and a Representative on the BSN Student Advisory Committee.
As secretary, Jaine is committed to improving communication and coordination within the UIW Student Government Association and actively supporting the execution of student-led initiatives. She is specifically focused on building stronger connections between student leaders and the student body, amplifying voices across all majors, and promoting leadership that reflects compassion, inclusivity, and collaboration.
Guided by UIW’s commitment to service and community, Jaine is passionate about helping students grow through partnerships and connections. This year, she hopes to shape SGA into a space where all students feel encouraged to speak up, share ideas, and take part in creating real change on campus.

Yazmin is a lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas, which has deeply influenced her desire to find and foster a sense of belonging in her community. This pursuit led her to the University of the Incarnate Word, where she is currently studying Criminal Justice with a focus in Pre-Law. Yazmin aims to not only make UIW a second home for herself but to also extend that welcoming environment to others.
Driven by a passion for justice and a love for engaging and connecting with others, Yazmin is committed to furthering her studies and expanding her knowledge in the field of law. Her goal is to use her education to make a meaningful impact, advocating for those who require support and contributing to a more just society.
With a strong foundation in her local community and a clear vision for her future, Yazmin is dedicated to creating a space where everyone feels valued and supported, both within her university and in the community.

Santiago Arteaga is a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a minor in Public Health at the University of the Incarnate Word. As a proud first-generation college student, Santiago is passionate about creating meaningful change on campus and in the community.
He currently serves as the Student Government Association Intern, where he is leading the development of an impact performance tracker to measure how well SGA initiatives are reaching and supporting the student body. Santiago is also the Vice President of the First-Generation Student Organization, Fundraising Chair for the Pre-Nursing Society, and a Resident Assistant—roles that allow him to connect with students, lead by example, and advocate for better access to opportunities.
Santiago’s passion for serving others is what drives his work, both on and off campus. Through his involvement at UIW, he has grown as a leader and deepened his commitment to helping people from all walks of life. The university’s mission of faith, service, and community has played a major role in shaping his values and preparing him to make a meaningful difference.
He is also passionate about expanding access to education and youth leadership opportunities. Santiago believes that empowering the next generation—especially those from underrepresented communities—is key to building a stronger, more equitable future. Whether through mentoring, organizing service projects, or supporting student-led initiatives, he is dedicated to helping young people reach their full potential.
Santiago plans to become a Doctor of Nursing Practice and pursue a master’s degree in public health to improve healthcare access in underserved communities. One day, he hopes to open his own hospital that provides high-quality, affordable care—especially to families who are often overlooked by the healthcare system. He believes leadership starts with service and is committed to using his voice and experience to uplift others and build a stronger, more inclusive campus for all Cardinals.
