Resources for Students

What is the UIW Core Curriculum?

For every UIW major, the faculty have designed the courses in your program to make sure every undergraduate learns ten key things by the time you complete the program. Those are the ten "core learning outcomes". They represent the learning dimensions of UIW's mission, and they are crucial skills and abilities that employers look for in strong graduates.

Which Courses Satisfy the Core Requirements?

The UIW Advising web pages will always have the latest list of courses that introduce students to these learning outcomes; these courses satisfy an important graduation requirement for all undergraduate students. Go to the Advising home page, and click on the "Core Curriculum" link.

Do I Really Have to Take So Many Courses?

YES. The designated core courses introduce you to these crucial learning areas, and your majors courses will develop these areas in more depth as you move through your program.
