Community Partner Information
Thank you for your interest in Meet the Mission at the University of the Incarnate Word!
Meet the Mission volunteers are UIW students and faculty that deploy to community worksites, usually on a Friday in September, to work for 3-4 hours supporting the service missions of our wonderful Community Partners. Volunteers are transported to Partner work sites in "waves." The First Wave can arrive for work between 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m., and the Second Wave can arrive at sites between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
In past years, volunteer crews have ranged from four volunteers to 25 volunteers. (We strive to accommodate the limitations of our Partners; sometimes a service project requires just a few hands, and sometimes many hands are required.)
Here are some projects that have been performed by volunteer crews:
- Interior painting
- Exterior painting
- Clean up
- Elderly visitation
- Animal care
- Child care
- Gardening
- Community garden construction
- Food pantry reorganization
- Window cleaning
- Passing out flyers
The University of the Incarnate Word Mission and Ministry have some tools for painting and gardening as well as a modest collection of hand tools.
