New Student Programs

The Office of New Student Programs is dedicated to promoting the success of new students by enhancing student engagement on campus. We are available to assist students in locating UIW resources that will lead to their academic success. New students learn to understand “you own your education,” which introduces self-responsibility and an awareness of the path to success!

New Student Programs Lounge - "The Landing"

Location: Student Engagement Center 3065

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Take time to relax in between classes and meet with your New Student Peer Mentor! We have snacks, a microwave, coffee, board games, and even a little library! 

NSP Academic Wellness Lunch and Engage

Come join us for our second Lunch & Engage event of the Fall semester on Wednesday, October 9th at 12pm at "The Landing" (SEC 3065). Free Lunch! Come learn study tips, note-taking skills, how to secure a tutor, and tips on grade improvement, presented by Dr. Amanda Johnston. If you attend 2 of the 3 Lunch & Engage Series you will receive a free Cardinal Spirit shirt!

October Checklist:

• Check Grades: If you are failing a class, please schedule a meeting with the New Student Programs Office so that we can help connect you with resources to improve your grade(s)! Don’t wait until it is too late!
• Schedule a meeting with your Advisor: Be on the look-out for an email from your Advisor for Spring Registration meetings!
• Engagement: Attend at least 3 events in October!
• Check Registration Holds: Holds prevent you from registering for classes. October is a good time to review and address any “Holds” that might prevent you from Registering for the Spring semester. 
• Visit “The Landing” (SEC 3065): Come meet new friends and enjoy free snacks!
