The Word Today is a publication of the University of the Incarnate Word's Office of Communications and Brand Marketing to inform the community of UIW's news, activities and achievements. The Word Today is not distributed to students. Any events to be listed must be submitted through a Request for Event Promotion Form a minimum of 5 business days in advance. It is the policy of the Word Today to post items for no more than three consecutive days. Lengthy informational items and events with longer timelines will be held for the online newsletter sent on Friday. We reserve the right to accept or reject items. Submit non-event announcements to email@example.com.
Audience: All full-time and part-time employees of UIW, IWHS, SACHS, UIW Board of Trustees, UIW Development Board, UIW Alumni Board, Friends of UIW and CCVI Sisters by request.

Any events to be listed must be submitted through a Request for Event Promotion form a minimum of 5 business days in advance. We reserve the right to accept or reject items. Submit non-event announcements to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Bereavement Notice Policy - Bereavement notices for employees and their family members will be issued through The Word Today e-newsletter and must be submitted by a dean, department director or individual appointed by the dean or department director for the particular area in which the related employee works. All notices must be received by 4 p.m. on the day before they are to be posted. We reserve the right to edit the entry for length and grammar; however, all responsibility for the content of the notice remains with the department that submitted the notice. Special messages regarding service arrangements will only be sent out if services will be held prior to the next newsletter, otherwise the notices will be included in the next daily newsletter. Please send all notices to email@example.com.
All requests to distribute information to students should be submitted to Campus Life.
UIW.edu Calendar of Events/News
UIW Communications and Marketing maintains the main Calendar of Events on the university's webpage. Event title, sponsor, time, date, location, cost if any, and contact information should be submitted via the Request for Event Promotion form as early as possible (a minimum of 5 business days in advance). It is imperative that you inform the Office of Communications and Marketing of any changes to your event as soon as possible to ensure the information is amended on the calendar.

Press Releases/Requests for Coverage
The Office of Communications and Brand Marketing issues press releases for events, activities and achievements of the university. Requests for Coverage are issued to media to request their presence at an event. All information including, who, what, when, where and why must be submitted via the Request for Event Promotion Form a minimum of 5 business days in advance. In order to have the best chance at media coverage, we recommend you submit the form 2 weeks in advance. A contact name number and/or email address must accompany your submission should we need to get additional information. Releases and/or RFCs will be sent to local media including newspaper, radio and tv stations. If you would like your information sent to trade publications specific to your area, please provide a list of the names of the publications. We will find the contact info.

UIW Communications and Marketing will submit your event listing to local community calendars. Please indicate when you submit an event via the Request for Event Promotion Form whether that event is open to the public or for the internal UIW audience only. A contact name number and/or email address must be included to provide to the public for additional information.

The Word Magazine
The Word Magazine is published in print and online at The Word Online. Stories are selected by an editorial committee however; you may submit story ideas to Publications Coordinator Marissa Rodriguez at firstname.lastname@example.org. In addition, there is an opportunity to include faculty/administrator achievements in the University Collective section. There is also a section titled Campus News that includes university highlights.
Audience: Distribution of over 32,000 includes alumni, board members, donors, and friends of the university.
