Decommissioning of Zoom and the Transition to Microsoft Teams

As of June 1st, 2024, the University of the Incarnate Word will no longer support Zoom for video conferencing and online collaboration. We are excited to announce that we will be transitioning to Microsoft Teams, a dynamic communications platform that offers enhanced features and capabilities.

To facilitate this transition, IT is preparing a range of resources and support materials available on this webpage. These include step-by-step guides, tutorial videos, and FAQs to help you become acquainted with the core functions of Microsoft Teams. We strongly encourage all students, faculty, and staff to begin exploring these resources and familiarizing themselves with Microsoft Teams well ahead of the transition date.

If you have any questions about how Microsoft Teams functions, or how meetings work on the platform, try visiting our Teams FAQ page to view a list of common questions.

Pull together entire departments by bridging the gap between in-person and remote activities to allow everyone to interact and collaborate online, wherever they are. Some notable features include:

  • Online Video Conferencing
    • Connect to anyone through video and/or audio calls, suitable for meetings, classes, or casual chats. Share your screen, camera, or voice with a suite of robust tools to enhance meetings.
  • Instant Messaging
    • Get rid of long email chains. Quickly message colleagues or classmates for real-time communication, in a space dedicated to work or school.
  • Automatic Document Storage
    • Securely edit and share files in real-time. Files shared in Teams are automatically backed up in a SharePoint site (shared OneDrive) linked to each team.
  • Organized Collaboration Tools
    • Teams offers dedicated spaces for specific projects or topics, enhancing focused discussions and collaborations between members.
