Biohazard Request

Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) disposal guidelines and procedures.

RMW is federally mandated through the Department of Transportation (DOT). Not adhering to these policies may result in monetary fines.

Do not place the following items in a RMW box:

  • Pharmaceutical waste, unless RCRA empty
  • Chemicals of any type
  • Radioactive waste
  • Compressed gas cylinders
  • Anything containing Mercury
  • Any other hazardous waste (batteries, heavy metals, unknowns)
  • Journals, books, soda cans, general lab trash
