Your health will be considered as a whole, but the focus of a well-woman exam is your reproductive health. Well-woman exams usually include three things: a pap smear, a pelvic exam and a breast exam. These exams are essential as they can catch early signs of cancer or other health problems before they get out of hand.
Maintain your health by following your primary care provider's annual exams, health screening and immunization schedules. When you get tests regularly and follow your doctor's health recommendations, you help prevent disease and support quality of life at every age.
Before your appointment with the physician and nurse practitioner, you should:
- locate your insurance card
- create a list of your current medications or prescriptions
- think about any food allergies or other information about yourself that may be medically relevant
