UIW’s Student Center: The Heart and Soul of Student Engagement

The University of the Incarnate Word’s Mission emphasizes development of the whole student, promoting a community of enlightened citizens. To fulfill this mission effectively, UIW has placed the Student Engagement Center (SEC) at the heart of the campus. The SEC has an open air architectural feature, with lots of windows and natural light, to create an inviting space for the UIW campus community to congregate.

UIW has over 90 student organizations, many of which meet regularly and participate in community service projects. More groups are forming each year. If the club you’re looking for doesn't exist yet, reach out to the Campus Engagement Office to learn how to found a new student organization. In Fall 2019, UIW enrolled over 8,175 students, making UIW the largest Catholic school in Texas and the fourth-largest private university in Texas.

The SEC is both a student union, where co-curricular activities are concentrated and a services center, where representatives from many of UIW’s student-facing offices to meet students’ needs. The SEC enhances the students’ experience for recruitment, development and success through graduation, by providing quality facilities and programming:

Reserving SEC Meeting Spaces:

• Student Orgs: If you are interested in reserving a space in the SEC for your student organization, please complete the approval process in Engage, prior to requesting space in the SEC. If you’re not sure how Engage works, please reach out to campusengagement@uiwtx.edu or (210) 805-5864. After you receive your Engage Approval Certificate, you may request space for your event through 25Live. Both Engage and 25Live can be found on your Cardinal Apps page.
