We support engaged scholarship and provide information for faculty to participate in engaged scholarship in teaching and learning. We strive to help you develop into the scholar you hope to be and encourage faculty to share their scholarship related to teaching and learning with outside entities. We particularly look for opportunities that align with the mission of UIW.
For example, opportunities to share scholarships that addresses contemporary issues of public concern, knowledge related to ameliorating social problems, work that engages members of various communities, research that examines inequities in education, health, housing, etc.
If you know of any opportunities you'd like to signal boost or make the CTL aware of, don't hesitate to contact us with the details. We hope this page can not only serve as a transparent view of what the CTL has an eye on,but also an opportunity to share these types of resources for the greater UIW community.
Calls for manuscripts from various disciplines will be posted as they come our way. Please, let us know if you would like to share any calls for manuscripts that come your way via your discipline.
Our goal is to help faculty learn about and share innovative pedagogical practices across our sites and among our various schools. We seek to nurture a space where faculty can collaborate, dialogue, and reflect among colleagues about student-centered, evidence-based, innovative, and inclusive approaches to teaching and learning so they can foster a culture of excellence and share their work via research.
Finding time to write can be a challenge during the semester. We encourage faculty to participate in faculty writing groups where time is set aside each week to write alongside each other in a quiet comfortable space. The goal is to help enhance scholarly productivity.
The CTL will post and distribute funding opportunities that come our way. It's also recommended that instructors sign up to receive notifications from Grant Forward through their home page.

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is the systematic study of teaching and learning; it involves identifying a problem, asking a question, gathering evidence, drawing conclusions based on that evidence, and making those findings public for the benefit of others. It employs the strict rigor and diligence that is applied to disciplinary research.
