We will update this space with important information, deadlines, and documents that you might need on your journey towards living on campus your first year!

What to Expect

Living on campus is one of the best decisions incoming Cardinals can make in order to make the most of their first year experience. Each of our freshman halls are catered towards building friendships, attending campus events, and supporting our students as they transition to college. The Resident Assistants (RAs) host fun events in the hall twice a month, bring residents to campus events, and serve as a role model and resource for all of our residents! Important Upcoming Dates/Deadlines

2023 Dates
- November 5 - Cardinal Preview Day
- December 15 - Housing Application for new students opens
2024 Dates
- June 1 - Room and Meal plan change
- June 15 - Last day to self-select room
- June 16 - Housing will process room assignments
- July 15 - Last day to submit Room change
- August 26 - Last day to submit Meal Plan change

First Year Housing

Our department has specific halls set aside to serve our first year population! Our first year halls are:

Clement (Male, Suited Doubles)
Dubuis Hall (Coed, Doubles, Community Style Bath)
Joeris (Coed, Suited Singles)
Sky View (Female, Suited Doubles)

Commonly Asked Questions

I am an Incoming First Year/Transfer; How do I Apply for Housing?

Confirm your UIW status by paying your matriculation fee.
You will receive an email with your login credentials within 2-3 business days.
- (Please contact the Admissions Office if you have not received your login credentials or if you have any questions regarding the confirmation process.)
Begin online application ( Visit our How-To Guide)
- Log into Cardinal Apps
  - Click on “StarRez: Student Housing Portal.”
  - Click on “Application”
  - Select the term you want to apply for
  - Begin Application
    - Pay $225 housing deposit through the Student Housing Portal. ( Visit our How-To Guide)
      - Scholarships or financial aid does not cover this fee.
      - You will receive a confirmation email with your receipt.
      - Please allow 24 hours for the deposit to be credited on your account.
      - Please note our Deposit Return Schedule:
        
        On or before May 31: 100% return
        
        June 1 through June 30: 50% return
        
        July 1 forward: 0% return
Continue through all steps until you are stopped.
- You will be stopped after selecting a meal plan.
- You will be emailed a timeslot to select a room.
  - First Year
    - Fall Semester – You will select your room from December – June 15
    - Spring Semester – Room placement is based on availability
  - Transfer
    - Fall Semester – You will select your room from April – June 15
    - Spring Semester – Room placement is based on availability
Submit your meningitis documentation. Your meningitis records can be submitted to the Document Receiving office by emailing your record in PDF format to registrar@uiwtx.edu. Be sure to include your PIDM or date of birth.

Texas State Law mandates that all students under the age of 22 entering a Texas college or university provide proof of vaccination against bacterial meningitis during the five years preceding admission to the University. You may submit your vaccination record in PDF format to registrar@uiwtx.edu. Be sure to include your PIDM or date of birth. The Office of Admissions cannot accept meningitis medical records.
Note: If applicable, you must have your meningitis shot on record to enroll in classes and apply for on-campus housing.

If you apply after June 15, you will be stopped after the meal plan page, and your status will state “incomplete.” Our office will manually assign students’ room reservations according to the student’s room preferences listed on the housing application and our availability at that time.
