International Ambassadors

Global Ambassador Program

The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) Division of International Affairs Global Ambassador Program (GAP) was created to provide students with a service centered opportunity to learn about and practice cultural competencies which are increasingly important for today’s citizens and workforce. Organizations are understanding the need for culturally competent workers and teams. Therefore, the UIW Division of International Affairs feels it is appropriate to offer this leadership program to students to provide training in cultural competencies and the opportunity to inspire, encourage, and impact a diverse community of international students, peers, staff, programs/activities and content.

GAP Learning Objectives

The GAP’s learning objectives were created to accompany UIW’s Core Values of Education and Service.

  • Education: The University educates men and women who will become concerned and enlightened citizens
  • Service: The curriculum includes a global perspective and an emphasis on social justice and community service.

Overall, participants in the GAP program will understand the importance of taking ownership of one's own growth and learning.

Ambassadors also help our new international students adjust during

  • Int'l Arrival Week
  • Int'l Orientation Week
  • Fall and Spring Semester

Ambassadors are also responsible for assisting with programming and events throughout the term to internationalize the UIW campus and student body.
