Alumni
Welcome Honors Alumni!
We love to hear from you as you make your way beyond The Nest. You will always be a part of the Honors Program and we hope you will stay connected with us.
Resources for our alums:
- Networking and Mentoring
- Career resources
- Giving to Honors
The UIW Honors Program Alumni Network exists to bring alumnus, like you, closer together. Graduates everywhere stay tied to the program by helping us preserve traditions and uniting with fellow students and alumni alike. We have dozens of ways to stay connected… we hope you find yours!
Please let us know if you have moved or changed your contact information. You can update your alumni information below to stay connected with program and university updates.
Alumni Newsletters and Events
Launching Fall 2022, every Fall and Spring we plan to send out an email newsletter with program updates and news items from our alumni community. We will also occasionally send out emails with information about events for alumni including a Fall tailgate, Arts and Music Festival, lectureships, guest speakers, and Honors Symposium.
Please keep your email address up to date to receive these emails. You can also stay up to date on program events by following the Honors Program Facebook page, Instagram or Twitter accounts.
Have news you want to share to the alumni newsletter? Send it to honorsprogram@uiwtx.edu.
Networking and Mentoring
Launching Spring 2022, Honors Program graduates can connect with other alumni and current students through the UIW Honors Network Group on LinkedIn. By joining the Network on LinkedIn you can:
Connect - Get plugged into a network of Honors Alumni working in every industry. Learn from their experience and build your resume.
Give back - Discover, introduce, and hire new graduates of The UIW Honors Program.
Grow - Leverage the power of the Honors Alumni Network and take the next big step in your career.
There is also a UIW Honors Program Alumni Facebook group. There you can connect and make posts exclusively for the Honors Alumni community.
Career Resources
In addition to the networking and job postings provided through Handshake, alumni can access career resources through the university Career Services Office:
- Post job/internship or refer potential employers to post job/internship: If your organization has open internships or jobs, speak with your Human Resources representative about posting them to the online job and internship database.
- Professional Development Workshops: Throughout the academic year, Career Services offers a number of workshops for students and alumni to attend.
- Looking for a job?: Take a look at the Resources page to help you build your resume, cover letter, interviewing skills and more!
Recruiting Honors Students and Alumni
We'd be delighted to share your employment or internship opportunity with the Honors Student and Alumni community. Firms or individuals interested in interviewing/hiring Honors students or graduates must first contact and make arrangements through one of two methods:
- UIW Career Services Office
Career Services is committed to assisting employers with their hiring needs. With over 100 undergraduate, graduate, and professional doctoral programs, an extremely diverse population and a curriculum that boasts a strong liberal arts foundation, the University of the Incarnate Word is an excellent place to recruit talented students ready to impact your company or organization. - Employer Partners Program
The Employer Partners Program at The University of Incarnate Word Career Services Center is desiring to provide an exclusive partnership between students and employers to maximize recruiting effectiveness on our campus. Accessing our services brings many benefits to both parties by increasing your visibility, enhancing student contact, providing connections to UIW faculty and staff and creating customized recruiting solutions for your organization.
After arrangements are made through Career Services, and the position is posted with one of these programs, the prospective employer may notify the Honors Program of the job posting and/or interviewing event details.
- Send the information in an email to honorsprogram@uiwtx.edu, with the subject "Honors Newsletter submission."
- Provide details about the job posting, with a link or email contact for additional information.
The Honors Program will then publicize the job information in the Honors "Taking Flight" monthly email newsletter and social media to current Honors Students, and to Alumni via our LISTSERV.
Giving to Honors
Support from our alumni is critical to the ongoing success of the program - gifts from alumni help support the education of UIW Honors Students directly through scholarships and grants, and through helping fund programs for our students such as peer mentoring, professional development events, and internships.
There are many ways to support the Honors Program. One-time gifts can be easily made online through the program's secure online giving portal.
Larger gifts such as endowments or estate gifts can be arranged through the Office of Development.
Gifts of any size are deeply appreciated and go a long way in sustaining the mission of the Honors Program at the University of the Incarnate Word. Thank you!
